Fountain Hills Invests in Art to Build Community Identity

Since 2023, Art State Arizona has partnered with the Town of Fountain Hills to invest in a bold public art initiative that reimagines the community’s shared spaces as dynamic works of art. What were once overlooked utility boxes scattered throughout the downtown business district are now striking murals that celebrate the town’s identity, culture, and creative spirit.
These public art investments not only beautify the streetscape but also serve as powerful symbols of Fountain Hills’ commitment to placemaking, creativity, and cultural vitality. Each mural tells a story—of the desert landscape, of community pride, of history and innovation—woven together by a diverse collective of Arizona muralists.
The program has become a catalyst for conversation and connection. Residents and visitors alike are invited to walk the district, discover each vibrant installation, and experience firsthand how art can transform everyday infrastructure into a gallery without walls. Through this effort, Fountain Hills is building a stronger sense of place and ensuring that creativity is part of the town’s legacy for generations to come.
