Sahuarita Photography Competition
See What We See: Sahuarita’s Story in Photographs
For the past four years, the Town of Sahuarita and Art State Arizona have partnered to shine a spotlight on the community through the art of photography. What began in 2023 with Capturing Community, continued in 2024 with Reflections, flourished in 2025 with Everyday Wonders, and expands in 2026 with Desert in Bloom. Each year, the competition has invited photographers—both amateur and professional—to explore Sahuarita’s identity, heritage, and beauty through a lens.
The competition has become a creative tradition, offering residents an opportunity to pause, look closely, and share the stories that make Sahuarita a place of connection and pride. From sweeping desert landscapes and striking plays of light and shadow, to joyful family gatherings and the quiet dedication of our everyday heroes, each photograph adds a new chapter to Sahuarita’s visual narrative.
Through themed categories like Nature’s Inspiration, Heart of Service, Shadows, Light, and Night, and Youth Showcase, the program encourages all ages to participate in shaping how we see and celebrate our community. Winning images receive cash prizes and are exhibited at Town Hall, ensuring that the artistry of Sahuarita’s residents becomes part of the town’s living history.
More than a contest, the Sahuarita Photography Competition is a collective act of placemaking—an annual invitation to rediscover the everyday wonders in our midst and to see our town, and one another, with fresh eyes.
